We encounter the Scriptures at an individual level in our Spiritual Reading, where God speaks to us either through the Bible or through other writings. This is not an exercise for finding out facts or information, but for listening to what God is telling us.
It is a daily exercise. To quote one of the Psalms: “Oh that today you would listen to His voice, harden not your hearts”. This listening to God’s voice initiates a response on our part, so there is a dialogue in prayer as we put into practice in our lives what we have heard. So it becomes a living Word.
